Fast-food value, measured

Which fast-food item actually gives you the most for your money?

fries.wtf ranks the real menus of 32 major U.S. fast-food and fast-casual chains by what you get per dollar โ€” protein, calories, and overall nutrition quality โ€” using prices pulled straight from each chain's own ordering system, not guesses.

Every chain publishes nutrition facts and every chain has a price, but nobody puts the two together in a way that answers the only question that matters when you're standing at the counter: what's the best thing to order? A $9 combo that's mostly soda and fries is a very different deal from a $6 item packing 40 grams of protein, yet the menu board makes them look interchangeable. fries.wtf does that math for you across thousands of menu items so you can spot the genuine bargains โ€” and the traps โ€” before you order.

How we measure value

Instead of one vague "value" number, we score every item on the things people actually optimize for, so you can rank by whichever one fits how you eat:

Where the numbers come from

This is the part most "fast-food calculator" sites get wrong. Prices on fries.wtf are real โ€” collected directly from each chain's own ordering API or app, the same prices you'd see checking out โ€” and they're refreshed regularly, so the rankings reflect what things actually cost today, not a number someone typed in years ago. Because fast-food prices vary by location, you can set a region to see pricing typical for your area. Items we haven't collected a verified price for yet show their nutrition only, clearly marked, rather than a made-up figure. Nutrition comes from each chain's own published values for standard menu builds.

How to use it

Browse any chain to see its whole menu ranked by value โ€” McDonald's, Chick-fil-A, Taco Bell, Chipotle and 28 more. Check the protein-per-dollar leaderboard to find the most efficient orders anywhere, or head-to-head comparisons like Burger King vs McDonald's to settle which chain is the better deal. Eating toward a goal? There are curated lists for high-protein, keto, low-carb and low-calorie ordering. And the meal planner will build the cheapest combination of real menu items that hits a protein target you set. For the bigger picture, our fast-food value report and price index track how the economics of the drive-thru are shifting over time.

Common questions

Are these prices exact?

They're real prices collected from each chain's ordering system, but fast food is priced per-location โ€” franchisees set their own prices. Treat the figures as an accurate, current baseline for your region rather than a guarantee for one specific store.

How often is the data updated?

Prices are re-collected on a regular schedule and nutrition is kept in sync with each chain's published facts, so rankings stay current as menus and prices change.

Is fries.wtf affiliated with any of these restaurants?
